Thor (2011)

Marvel Studios is known by its films showcasing the stories about superheroes such as Iron Man, Spider Man, Captain American and others. Currently there is a decent addition to this collection – this is Thor movie.

Thor is the god of thunder. He is ambitious and arrogant, so that a tiny hint of a thought carelessly thrown by his brother Loki like a seed grew into the obsession and made Thor disobey his father's will. Odin, his father, punished Thor by casting him away onto the Earth. It was rather a good lesson than a severe punishment that helped the protagonist comprehend what wisdom is. Still, there is a jealous brother who is ready to move heaven and earth to keep Thor on the Earth and to become the king instead.

This is a great movie due to the star cast first of all. Chris Hemsworth as Thor is awesome and a real hero; he is brutal and graceful at the same time. He definitely helped to deliver the story to a viewer and Natalie Portman as Jane Foster is a nice part for him and a love interest. Well, as it turned out even gods can fall in love. Anthony Hopkins is a wise king Odin, absolutely wise and definitely the King. He is the one who makes this movie intelligent and bring some philosophy. Loki is played by Tom Hiddleston, who is an excellent portrayal of a cunning, jealous younger brother. There are also some minor characters like Thor's friends warriors who add some funny element to Thor movie.

What an fantasy/adventure movie is without special effects? CGI is dazzling and is what makes this film look real when watched in 3D. You will feel not only see Thor's power as real and Asgard is showcased as the city of gods, it looks like a paradise making a nice contrast to the Earth and dark frosty Jotunheim.
With lots of pros Thor movie still has some cons. This film is so very fast! While Loki's story is told clearly and in full, Thor's is extremely fast-paced. There is an impression like you are in haste while watching it. Another flaw is a love story it's too fast as well, unreal and forced, probably intended for romantic viewers.

Overall, this is a great movie, a mixture of adventure, fantasy, drama seasoned with good humor and a bit of romance. All these convince to watch this movie. If not this, than a high IMDb rating and lots of positive Thor reviews.
