Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010)
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World Plot Summary:
Every year there are many comic and funny movies made. The year 2010 has been no exception and we have already seen some fine movies in this genre. Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is the story of a young boy who plays for a band and desperately wants to make it big in the world of music. He is dating a young girl Knives Chau, but has not overcome the feeling of rejection from his ex-girlfriend who dumped him and is now a big success in his own band.
Scott is mesmerized by a new girl in the college, Ramona Flowers and tries to seduce her. But he finds it hard to break up with Knives, and his life becomes hell as he tries to manage both the girls. As if this was not enough, he has to contend with seven exes of Ramona, all of whom are not ready to give up on Ramona. Now Scott has to fight each one of these seven boys in order to win Ramona. These ex lovers are all sorts of boys from a famous skateboarder to a rock star, and Scott has to use his brains to defeat all of them. Scott doesn't want to let go of Ramona, and has to think of ingenious ways to ward of all of them one by one.
There is a big surprise for the audiences, as by the time Scott emerges victorious against 4th of the seven exes; he starts to be upset about the dating history of Ramona. His fifth and sixth rivals are twin brothers whom he defeats and earns an extra life. With only the last rival to beat, Ramona breaks up with Scott. Scott challenges the seventh rival, but is accidentally killed by Gideon; the 7th ex. Scott uses his extra life to come back into action and kills Gideon.

BORING. DUMB.
Unless you are a teenager.
One of the best movies of 2010
The poster before me wouldn't know real talent if it walked up to him and kicked him in the crotch. This movie is deeper than just an average comedy flick. Edgar Wright did a superb job of leading the audience into the life of Scott Pilgrim and how he struggles to deal with not just love, but life in general. Michael Cera was great in his performance, but was definitely outshined by the roles of Kieran Culkin and Mary Elizabeth Winstead. This trippy film is an orgasmic clash of comic book timing and subtle anime/video game tendencies with the perfect soundtrack to accompany each scene. If you like to watch good movies and realize the mesmerising aesthetic quality that alot of movies are lacking these days, then Scott Pilgrim is the movie for you. If not, you are clearly more retarded than the poster above.
Funny? No.
Comic book style visual touches and fast cuts do not manage to obscure the one-dimensional story, the lack of good comedy and, above all, the presence of Michael Cera as Scott. His whiny high voice and complete lack of appeal kill any enjoyment one might derive from some original situations and characters. There are some original ideas here, but nothing very interesting is done with them. I turned it off before it was over, which is very rare for me. I believe the high ratings for this movie have more to do with some conceptually cute quirkiness than any real ideas. I don't recommend this for adults.
