The Lord Of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)

The final part of the trilogy based on the novel by G.R.R. Tolkien "The Lord of The Rings" got the name The Lord Of the Rings: The Return of the King. This film beat all the records and even surpassed Titanic by getting 11 Oscar awards. The movie grossed about 1.1 milliard dollars all over the world and, according to the latest information, it occupies the fifth place in the list of the highest grossing movies of all times. With incredible number of awards and nominations any other movies can't boast to have, this final part of the trilogy was screened to win the viewers' support first of all.

The plot of the film The Return of the King tells about the rescue of Middle Earth from the power of the dark lord Sauron, who directed his troops to the walls of Minas Tirith. Being under the influence of the Ring, Gollum tries to sow the seed of discord in order to embroil Frodo (Elijah Wood) with Sam (Sean Astin), but he fails. The final battle between the evil and the good was on the side of the evil, but everything depends on the ability of these very hobbits to get to Mount Doom and destroy the ill-fated Ring.

However the events develop in a way that Frodo falls under Ring's evil magic and puts it on his finger. At the same moment Gollum, who is blind in his love for the Ring, takes it back by biting Frodo's finger. But with such tiresome, full of danger journey behind his back, Frodo was not about to let Gollum spoil his mission. After all the destroying of the Ring brought about the destruction of Sauron's citadel together with the Mordor army.

One of the main roles belongs to handsome and talented Elijah Wood. He is Frodo, a hobbit on the side of the good. Moreover his character is very kind, trusting and vulnerable, what brings touchy and sensitive shades to the film. The most impressive here are splendid, breathtaking landscapes! Amazing!
Another compliment is addressed to the cast. The actors are great, you know it from the previous parts. What is more, in comparison to prequels, in this final part you will find fabulous graphics and excellent visual effects, probably the best among the trilogy.

There is a tip for you to know: there are two versions of this movie. The one is official, which was reduced to the requirements of the renting companies and which was shown at the cinemas and on television. The second version is full, known as director's version, which is 50 minutes longer. So, if you are not in a hurry and have much spare time to enjoy a top-notch movie, opt for the last one to get entire pleasure.
