Best Movies are placed into different genres to separate them according to the type of movie each one is. They are classified by the description, theme, variety, or story idea that is determined by how the movie is written. A comedy is meant to make us laugh, while a mystery may want us to think and try to solve a crime. A science fiction movie is exactly what that implies, it is fiction of the scientific order and meant to entertain but not to be taken seriously. Star Wars is sci-fi at its best and extremely entertaining, but not realistic (at least as far as we know).

Movie genre may also refer to the style by which the movie has been made or is presented. It may have been shot on thirty five millimeter film, may be anamorphic widescreen, or be considered a silent or a talkie flick.

A science fiction movie may also be classified as a horror movie as in the case of Phantasm or Aliens. Mystery movies may be classified as a drama plus a comedy such as the Charlie Chan series.

The most entertaining and enjoying movies are probably those that fit into more than one category such as Forrest Gump. That excellent film fits the genres of comedy, historic, and drama quite effectively. You can look into a specific genre when looking for a movie to view, choose based on the cast members, or look for the latest releases and find something to please everyone in the family.
